Maria Newman
Educator Biography

Maria Newman has been teaching violin, viola, music theory, and composition at the highest levels since 1986. Notable teaching credits include Violin Performance/Chamber Music Staff at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, Distinguished Guest Artist at the Icicle Creek Music Center, Composer-in-Residence and Composition Faculty at the Omaha Conservatory of Music Institute, and Composition Faculty at the Montgomery Arts House Academy. 

Ms. Newman has been honored as a Guest Lecturer at such prestigious institutions as the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester (NY), UC Irvine, Concordia University, Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Central Washington University, Pacific Lutheran University, and Luther College, among others.

Ms. Newman currently keeps a selective studio of advanced violin and viola students and offers 
Composition and Music Theory at the advanced level. In addition to her private studio, Ms. Newman hosts clinics for promising composition students in collaboration with their university or conservatory.
