Maria Newman's Musical Stories: Volume I couples classic fairytales by master storytellers Oscar Wilde and Mary de Morgan with Newman's original score to create an album full of childlike magic and wonder. 

The album features On a Pincushion, A Guide to Chamber Music, for Narrator and Chamber Ensemble, based on the works of Mary de Morgan featured in her book of fairytales, On a Pincushion & Other Fairytales (1877). The ten movement piece features the narration of Oscar-winning composer, singer, and songwriter Randy Newman alongside the musical stylings of the Viklarbo Chamber Ensemble. 

Also featured on the album is The Happy Prince, for Narrator and Violin. A setting of Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince & Other Tales, this piece features narration by actor George Thatcher in collaboration with Ms. Newman on the violin.
